| Starting in Cape Town this tour captures the Cape Winelands, Garden Route and ends with a wildlife experience in Addo National Park and a private game reserve.
South Africa 's famous garden route is situated between Mossel Bay and Storms River and squeezed between the majestic Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountains and the beaches and cliffs of the Indian Ocean .
The area is famous for its exquisite forests, beautiful beaches, spectacular cliffs and rivers as well as quaint villages and fine food. Welcome to the Garden Route .
Schotia Safaris is the oldest private game viewing reserve in the Eastern Cape, bordering the eastern side of Addo Elephant National Park. This malaria free reserve is probably the most densely stocked reserve in Africa, and with over 40 mammal species and approximately 2000 animals, can offer consistently good game viewing throughout the year.
Schotia was the first reserve in the Cape Province to have free roaming lions and we can almost guarantee sightings of these magnificent animals on every game drive.
Addo Elephant National Park was proclaimed in 1931 to provide a safe haven for the few wild elephants who survived government-sponsored culling to remove them in the early 20th century. Today the elephants number in their hundreds, thanks to the efforts of the National Parks Board and a unique vegetation type - subtropical thicket, or valley bushveld. It is this thick, impenetrable vegetation that has not only provided protection for the elephants and buffalo in the area, but also provided a rich food source, supporting what is now the most dense population of wild elephants on the planet.
